Recent productions include International Film Festival of Rotterdam's Hubert Bals Fund+Europe backed ‘Olivia’ (2025), Sofia Petersen’s feature debut, which had its world premiere at the 78th Locarno Film Festival where it was nominated for a Golden Leopard, and went on to screen at Mostra São Paulo International Film Festival, Seville European Film Festival, among others.
Animitas films also include the short film ‘Passing Place’ (2021) which won the Grand Prix at the 25FPS Festival 2021. The film was part of ‘Lanscape Elsewhere’ exhibition at Calm & Punk Gallery in Tokyo in 2022.
‘Alone sleeps the Water, Frozen She Awakes’ (2021), their first short film, screened widely internationally, including at the San Francisco Cinematheque, Festifreak, and Alchemy Film & Arts.
Shaun Finneran (UK) studied Physics and worked mainly as an engineer, before becoming a producer and co-founding Animitas production company in 2021. Sofía Petersen (Argentina) is a film director, writer and editor. She studied at the University of Cinema of Buenos Aires, and at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola. Together they form Animitas.
